INTERACTIVE MUSEUM

Museum of Senses

arcHITects conceived the Museum of Senses Milano as a “perception engine” rather than a museum: three stacked floors, gently spiralling upward inside the shell at Viale Monte Grappa 10, guide visitors from daylight into a calibrated twilight where walls, floors and ceilings all become instruments of sensory provocation. The existing concrete frame was stripped to its raw rhythm, then wrapped in acoustically porous panels and a translucent façade that glows after dusk, signalling an urban observatory of the senses in the fast-evolving Porta Garibaldi district.

Inside, each gallery is tuned to a single faculty: a corridor that bleaches colour from the retina, a chamber where water appears to flow upward, and a mirrored maze that forces the body to redraw its spatial map. Optical illusions, tactile floors, scent curtains and balance-defying platforms invite children and adults alike to question what they trust most—sight, touch, taste, smell, hearing and equilibrioception—before restoring them to the city with sharpened awareness.
